Visiting California to see our dear friends Deane and Brian has become like a second home for us. As such, we have gotten very lazy with taking pictures. . . below you will see a few highlights from our spring Cali trip.
We left Thursday evening after I rushed home from school. We drove for about 9 hours, before I hit my limit. Usually I am a good passenger . . . we used to drive from Port Orchard to San Diego in one day. However, the extra baby weight certainly made for an uncomfortable ride. I was experiencing lower back pain and felt like I was sitting on needles. Ugh! We had to stop and we spent the night in Redding.
Friday morning we woke up and drove the 2 1/2 hours to El Dorado Hills. Shortly after arriving, it was decided we were going on the boat for the day. What a beautiful day to spend on the lake. It was 82 degrees and oh so relaxing. So relaxing I ended up laying on my back in the sun for a good 30 minutes before I remembered that I should not be laying flat on my back. Oops!
Saturday morning Jon and I woke up and went to Starbucks for our morning coffee. On the way back home, we stopped at a neighborhood garage sale. We love garage sales and since it is still rainy in Washington garage sale season hasn't really begun. We walked around with Meesha for an hour before heading home. Jon found a skateboard for $5 and I found an amazing drying rack for $3. We have been in the market for one since we decided on cloth diapers.
After returning home, we headed to San Francisco to meet up with our friends Nicole and Ryan. We haven't seen Ryan since we lived in San Diego, she lives in North Carolina and happened to be in Cali visiting family at the same time. We met up with Nicole at the Embarcadero for the farmer's market before heading to the Academy of Sciences. Then, we met up with Ryan to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. We ended our day with dinner at the Cliff House. This is where I learned that butter and I are not friends.

Sunday we had a boy day and a girl day. The boys went to an outdoor shooting range and the girls went to the outlet mall for a little shopping. I guess going to the shooting range when you are pregnant is not recommended.

Monday our friend Ryan came over to visit with her son Hugh. We spent the day planting Denae's vegetable garden before the thunder storm and rain rolled in. As the storm passed we relaxed and watched a movie. The storm made for some beautiful sunset pictures.

Tuesday was our last day in California. We went with Brian and Denae to their gender reveal ultrasound! It was exciting to experience this moment with them. What a great way to end a wonderful weekend!
Luckily the car trip home was much more enjoyable. I knew what to expect and I made sure to provide myself with extra comfort. We made it home in 11 hours . . . no stopping this time. :)
